In with the old, in with the new

While fans of supergroup Spork are used to their long hibernation periods, a few could still be heard grumbling when, once again, the alt-rock-funkers announced there would be no holiday concert this year.

However, Sporkees do have a reason to be optimistic about the future of the band. This Sunday will mark the rockers' second practice session in less than 3 weeks. An unprecedented span of time for a group known for taking a year off nearly every year.

"In the past we felt our music would be better served by letting the vibe from our previous session really sink in. And we often felt that a solid 6-8 months was necessary for that sinking in process. However, last session [Sunday, Nov. 28], we found that not only had nothing sunk in, but things that had sunken in during previous sessions, had somehow become unsunk. Such as that freakin' chord from Wishful Thinking...NATE!" Sporker Blaise St. Amand said.

Spork also found new love for several old favorites that had previously been thrown onto the scrap heap. Songs like Tomorrow Might, Jimmie and his Chicken Show and Satiate found themselves back in the playing rotation.

While practice sessions are not open to the general public, a few lucky Sporkees are often allowed to join the band's creative process and jam sessions.

One such lucky attendee was Renee, who not only was allowed to witness the band's resurgence last month, but was given the opportunity to order the group's dinner. A task which ultimately took 6 or 7 tries.

Still, in the end, pizza and a good time was had by all. And Adam paid.
